The Shepherd depicts the scene from Second Samuel 7, where God promised David to make him a house and bring forth his seed. In doing so, God lovingly recounts his care for David throughout his life. Verse 8 says, “And now thus shall you say to My servant David, Thus says Jehovah of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, that you might be ruler over My people, over Israel.”
