A Reaching Hand depicts the scene from Second Samuel 6, where David had the Ark brought out from temporary storage and Uzzah made the mortal mistake of trying to save it from apparent trouble by his natural instincts. The result showed that God needed no help from the goodness of the natural man.
2 Samuel 6:6 And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah reached out for the Ark of God and took hold of it; for the oxen had stumbled.
7 And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the Ark of God.
8 And David was angry because Jehovah had broken forth with an outburst upon Uzzah; and that place has been called Perez-uzzah to this day.
